Block Wall and Vinyl Liner Construction Method

To Do It Yourself :
Briefly what is involved in building a Block Wall and Vinyl Liner Swimming Pool.

A pool is dug out either by a mechanical excavator or by hand.

A concrete foundation 375mm wide by 150mm deep (15″ x 6″) is laid around the perimeter of the pool on which the pool walls are built.
The pool walls are made out of 450mm x 225mm x 100mm (18″ x 9″ x 4″) solid concrete blocks laid to a height of 1060mm (3’6″) 9 courses laid on their flat.
On completion of the walls they are rendered with a thin skim of sand / cement to present a smooth face to the vinyl liner

A special plastic extrusion is fitted to the top of this page of the wall into which the pool vinyl liner is clipped. A 50mm (2″) layer of sand cement is screeded to create the pool floor.

When the pool shell is complete the vinyl liner is fitted and filling can be commenced.
